ATI convened a multi-stakeholder training on strengthening investigative techniques to prevent and combat transnational organized crime in Zanzibar, 4–8 May 2026, at the Zanzibar Beach Resort. Participant institutions included the President's Office–RALG, the Office of the Vice President, MAINRL, the Ministry of Blue Economy and Fisheries, ZEMA, the Tanzania Police Force Anti-Smuggling Special Unit, TRA, and environment, fisheries and forestry authorities.
These institutions took part as training participants; they are not partners or endorsers of ATI.
Participants recorded the view that environmental crimes are not only conservation issues but also community resilience issues: when ecosystems are destroyed and livelihoods are lost, vulnerability to exploitation increases.
