What We Do
We increase the identification of those victimized and vulnerable as well as to improve the response of the law enforcement community by leveraging the expertise of former federal law enforcement agents to facilitate national and international trainings. Through education engagements we are able to improve intelligence-led investigations, victim identification, and the prosecution of criminal perpetrators.
We engage government agencies to develop investigative strategies using advanced case building and analytic techniques. Officers learn about joint investigations, evidence and data gathering and linking illicit trafficking channels between countries with shared intelligence on seizures
Remains a pervasive issue affecting individuals across the globe, disproportionately impacting women and marginalized communities. To effectively address and combat GBV, specialized training for law enforcement and community service providers is essential. On-the-job training programs enhance the skills necessary for identifying, investigating, and prosecuting cases of GBV, while also supporting victims and preventing future violence. In addition to providing training on gender-based violence, we prioritize raising awareness about this critical issue while empowering women economically through sustainable sources of income, particularly in green jobs. By educating communities on the signs and consequences of GBV, we foster a supportive environment where victims feel safe to speak out. Simultaneously, we implement initiatives aimed at enhancing women’s economic opportunities through job training programs in environmentally sustainable industries and access to resources that promote financial independence. This dual approach not only helps to break the cycle of violence but also equips women with the tools they need to assert their rights and build a more secure future.
Our Approach
Africa Transformational Initiative (ATI) is committed to strengthening the capacity of law enforcement officers to effectively combat organised crimes, particularly those related to human trafficking, environmental crimes, and gender-based violence.
By providing specialised training, ATI aims to enhance officers’ knowledge of the complex and evolving nature of organised crime networks.
The initiative focuses on equipping law enforcement with practical skills in investigation, intelligence gathering, and the use of modern technology to identify, disrupt, and prevent these crimes. Additionally, ATI promotes inter-agency collaboration and fosters partnerships between law enforcement and civil society to create a holistic approach to addressing organised crimes.
Through these efforts, ATI ensures that officers are better prepared to enforce the law, protect vulnerable communities, and uphold justice
Africa Transformational Initiative is committed to uniting global experts to identify best practices, lessons learned, and actionable recommendations for promoting accountability for violations of international laws.
We believe that fostering collaboration among legal scholars, policymakers, and practitioners is essential to strengthening the frameworks that govern international conduct.
Our approach includes comprehensive assessments of existing legal mechanisms, the development of innovative strategies to enhance enforcement, and the facilitation of dialogues that encourage cross-border cooperation.
Through these efforts, we aim to create a robust system of accountability that not only addresses past violations but also deters future misconduct.
Africa Transformational Initiative actively collaborates with government agencies and various non-profit organisations to design and deliver impactful training programs tailored to the unique needs of different stakeholders.
By leveraging the expertise of our partners, we create comprehensive training modules that cover essential topics such as legal frameworks, victim support, and investigative techniques. Our collaborative approach ensures that we not only reach a wide audience but also facilitate knowledge sharing among participants, enhancing the overall effectiveness of our initiatives.
Together with our partners, we strive to create sustainable change in communities, equipping them with the tools and resources needed to combat human trafficking, environmental crimes, and gender-based violence effectively.
Our collaborations include partnerships with the University of Washington, the Lusaka Agreement Task Force, and various government agencies across Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Cambodia, and Congo Brazzaville. Together, we strive to make a tangible impact and create a safer, more equitable future for all. Since 2022, ATI, formerly GFF, in collaboration with USAID, UNDP, GEF, and the Global Wildlife Program, has been conducting training programs for law enforcement officers in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda
Africa Transformational Initiative hosts dynamic public programming featuring industry thought leaders and policy experts, aiming to raise awareness about critical issues such as human trafficking, environmental crimes, and gender-based violence.
Â
Our events include panel discussions, workshops, and community outreach initiatives that provide a platform for sharing knowledge and experiences.
By engaging diverse audiences from community members to decision-makers we seek to illuminate the complexities of these issues and inspire action. Our advocacy efforts also focus on developing educational materials and resources that empower individuals and organizations to address these challenges at the grassroots level, fostering a culture of awareness and prevention.
Understanding that many of the critical issues we tackle, human trafficking, environmental crimes, and gender-based violence, are closely tied to poverty and a lack of awareness, Africa Transformational Initiative has established a special program dedicated to empowering women and young people.
This program focuses on raising awareness of their rights and equipping them with practical skills to achieve economic independence.
We offer targeted workshops that not only educate participants about the dangers they face but also provide hands-on training in sustainable livelihoods and financial literacy.
By fostering an environment of support and knowledge, we aim to create a strong network of empowered individuals who can advocate for themselves and their communities.
This initiative is about more than just training; it’s about transforming lives and fostering resilience, ensuring that every woman and young person has the tools and support they need to navigate their challenges and build a more secure future for themselves and their families.
